One Way or Another is a group exhibition bringing together artists from two studio art programs focused on facilitating art practices of adults with special needs. The exhibiting artists were chosen because of their shared ability to comfortably pivot between materials in order to illustrate their ideas. Subject matter is often portrayed in a variety of ways, including 3-inch tall toilets and “Bears Doing Karate.” The works on display at the CVA Gallery will be accompanied by photographs and videos that showcase the individual paths and processes that each artist took to create their work.

Curator Brian Kavanaugh was a teaching artist at Autism Services, Inc. from 2006-2011 and is currently the Gallery Director and Studio Manager at Soul Studio, a part of Friendship Circle of Michigan. Autism Services, Inc. is located in Buffalo, NY and the Dresner Foundation Soul Studio is a part of Friendship Circle of Michigan’s Farber Center located in West Bloomfield, MI.
