PARENT SUPPORT GROUP – TRANSITION
If your child has aged out of school, or will be aging out within the next 1-5 years, we encourage you to join our group.
Our first meeting will be held at the Autism Resource Center
at 97 Main Street in Hamburg.
Join us July 28th at 6:00 pm.
This can be an overwhelming and confusing transition for parents and caregivers. The funding sources for services are different and obtaining the services can take a long time. We’ve heard other parents and caregivers describe this transition as “falling off a cliff.”
We want to help. We urge parents and caregivers to educate themselves and set a plan into action well before your child reaches the age of 21.
The goals for our parent support group will be to:
- Give adults with autism a voice in the community
- Help families think outside the box of traditional services
- Educate communities about autism to improve employment and residential opportunities
We feel that working together as a group will allow us to come up with ideas and solutions to provide fulfilling and productive opportunities for your children. For more information, contact Veronica Federiconi via email or at 716-631-5777 ext. 318.
