ASI is a N.Y.S. Approved Provider of Coursework/Training in the Needs of Students with Autism.
We are pleased to announce that Autism Services, Inc. is a NYSED approved provider of training in the needs of students with autism. Effective with applications after September 1, 2009, all candidates for a Classroom Teaching certificate in all areas of Special Education are required to complete coursework or training from a State Education Department approved provider of such training. On Saturday, September 27, 2014, Autism Services, Inc. and the Autism Society Western New York Chapter are pleased to present “Sensory, Emotional, and Behavioral Regulation in Individuals with ASD.” The presenter is Ms. Paula Aquilla, B.Sc., OT, an occupational therapist and author of “Building Bridges Through Sensory Integration- Therapy for Children with Autism and Other Pervasive Developmental Disorders.” This workshop will examine the dynamics between sensory integration, and emotional as well as behavioral regulation in individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Parents and professionals will learn how to identify when sensory/emotional/behavioral dysregulation occurs, as well as practical strategies to help those affected learn and maintain self-regulation in the school, home, and community environments. A collaborative approach for sensory integration and the role of language/communication in self-regulation will also be discussed. This workshop is geared for both professionals and parents.
In addition, we are pleased to announce that we will be offering ASHA CEU credit through the Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Western New York (SHAWNY), and IACET as well as AOTA CEUs for OTs/COTAs/PTs/PTAs through Learning Partners! The cost and CEU credit information is listed below:

Speech-Language Pathologist & Audiologists – $35 (.35 ASHA CEUs)
OT or COTA – $35 (.3 IACET CEUs; .3 AOTA CEUs; 3.75 NBCOT PDUs)
