ASI is a N.Y.S. Approved Provider of Coursework/Training in the Needs of Students with Autism.
We are pleased to announce that Autism Services, Inc. is a NYSED approved provider of training in the needs of students with autism. Effective with applications after September 1, 2009, all candidates for a Classroom Teaching certificate in all areas of Special Education are required to complete coursework or training from a State Education Department approved provider of such training. On Saturday, April 12, 2014, Autistic Services, Inc. and the Autism Society Western New York Chapter are pleased to present “Nutrition and Autism” at Classics V Conference and Banquet Center. This half-day workshop features Kelly Dorfman, M.S., L.N.D. Ms. Dorfman is a licensed nutritionist, dietician, and author with over thirty years of clinical experience. She works with complex cases, offering new insights for families and clinicians to give them the tools they need to understand and work with children with a variety of eating issues. This presentation will discuss both the biological causes as well as the sensory issues that serve as both the cause and effect of picky eating. The role of Essential Fatty Acids (EFAs) and brain development will also be discussed, as well as a nutritional approach to dyspraxia and research linking fats to motor development.
In addition, we are pleased to announce that we will be offering ASHA CEU credit through the Speech-Language-Hearing Association of Western New York (SHAWNY), and IACET CEUs for OTs/COTAs/PTs/PTAs through Learning Partners! The cost and CEU credit information is listed below:
Parent/Individual with ASD – $10
Speech-Language Pathologist or Audiologist – $30 (.35 ASHA CEUs available)
OT or COTA – $30 (.3 IACET CEUs; .3 NYS OT CEUs; 3.75 NBCOT PDUs)
PT or PTA – $30 (.36 NYS Approved PT CEUs)
Other Professional/Paraprofessional/Students – $20 (No CEUs awarded)
