RESIDENTIAL HABILITATION

RESIDENTIAL HABILITATION

Autism Services’ Residential Program offers supportive home environments where residents can maximize their potential for independence and pursue their personal goals. At present, we maintain thirteen Individual Residential Alternatives (IRA’s) sites located in suburban communities. The sites have evolved atmospheres that express the personalities and interests of the residents who live there.

An Individualized Plan of Service is developed for each resident to assist him/her in accomplishing personal goals and to attain the highest level of independence possible. Residents participate in administration of home responsibilities, such as:

  • planning weekly menus
  • shopping for food and other necessities
  • cooking
  • laundry
  • cleaning
  • planning recreational activities
  • managing money

Following successful placement in a supportive residential home, families remain involved in the resident’s lives as parents, siblings, guardians, advocates, and treatment team members. Many residents visit their families on weekends and holidays.

Related services offered within the Residential Program include, but are not limited to:

  • 24-Hour Nursing
  • Behavior Intervention and Support
  • Recreational Experience
  • Health and Exercise Opportunities
  • Community Involvement
  • Support of Special Interests (hobbies, enrichment classes)
