SUPPLEMENTAL DAY HABILITATION

SUPPLEMENTAL DAY HABILITATION

Our Arts Work Enrichment Program (Supplemental Day Habilitation) is held twice monthly, on the first and third Tuesday of each month, from 6:00-8:00 pm at our Williamsville location. The program runs year-round.

The program consists of one hour of art activities and one hour of music activities (utilizing African drums and related percussion instruments). All materials and supplies are provided. This program utilizes art and music exercises to address a habilitative need (i.e. communication, socialization, sensory) that is identified in the person’s ISP. People are given the opportunity to express themselves in ways other than words, as verbal communication for many of them is a daily struggle. We have seen these people gain strengths and skills that we would not have found without these programs.

To be eligible for this program, a person must have a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder, live at home and be eligible to receive OPWDD services. Supplemental Day Habilitation is considered a waiver service.
